Before Omega owned the moon and Rolex conquered the ocean, there was a watchmaker in Cincinnati who believed that everything should be built beautifully. Dietrich Grün arrived in America with Swiss guild training and German precision, founding what would become the largest watch company in the United States by the mid-1920s. This Gruen Precision represents that philosophy in its most refined form — a dress watch from the early 1960s powered by their signature 510 calibre, with Swiss movements cased and timed at Time Hill, their guild hall headquarters overlooking the Ohio River.

The Gruen Watch Company didn't survive the quartz revolution. By 1958, the family had sold out, and Time Hill fell silent. The Precision Factory in Biel/Bienne found a fitting second life — acquired by Aegler in 1977, it's now part of Rolex's manufacturing operations. For collectors, this creates something increasingly rare: genuine provenance and Hollywood folklore at a fraction of what comparable Swiss marques command.
